TAG Heuer has been linked with motor racing and F1 for over 50 years, so it’s hardly surprising that they created the Tag Formula One range of watches back in 1986.
One of the first high profile stars to wear a TAG watch was Steve McQueen. At the same time as bringing Hollywood glamour to motor racing in the film Le Mans, he created a link in the public’s mind between racing and the Heuer name by wearing the Monaco Chronograph (which actually belonged to Swiss F1 driver Jo Siffert).
Since 1986, the Tag Formula One watch has been worn and promoted by stars of sport and screen alike, and this history continues in 2008.
Of course, Tag Heuer is particularly linked to two major Formula 1 drivers: wunderkind Lewis Hamilton, who sports the Tag Formula One with orange dial, and World Champion 2007 Kimi Räikonen, who wears and promotes the Carrera Automatic Chronograph Tachymetre.
Perhaps surprisingly, the Tag Formula One range also features a number of women’s watches, and since women do not participate in F1 it is tennis player Maria Sharapova who is most famous for endorsing the range. She wears the Tag Formula One Glamour Diamonds watch, with mother of pearl dial and fixed bezel set with 120 diamonds (0.75 carats).
With such popular names sporting the Tag Formula One range it’s not surprising to see why it continues to be a huge favorite in the Tag Heuer collection.
